Frequently Asked Questions
What size is a business card?
American business cards are 2 inches by 3.5 inches and be designed horizontal or vertical (landscape or portrait). European business cards are 2.12 inches by 3.37 inches.
Should I print on one side or both sides?
This is a matter of personal preference. There is a small savings printing on only one side of a business card, but generally not a huge savings. Using the back of your card for a QR code, list of services or logo and catch phrase can be good use of space, however some folks like to keep the back of the card blank for hand written notes. Also the back of business cards can be used for appointment reminders with blanks for date and time.
How many business cards should I order?
Cards are generally ordered in quantities of 250, 500, 1000 or 2500. The more you order the cheaper the price per card will be. Order as many cards as possible to get the best price, if you do not foresee a change in address, phone number or web address ordering once a year will save over ordering 3 or 4 times per year.
Why is it cheaper to order larger quantities?
Every time a job is printed it requires set-up time. The time required is the same whether you are printing 10 items or 1000 items. If it takes a half hour to set-up for the job you must pay for that time. If the cost of that half hour is distributed over the cost of 10 cards it is much more per card than if the cost is distributed over 1000 cards. For example: if it costs $10 for the set up to print a job, then printing 10 items means the setup cost is $1.00 per item. If you print 1000 items the setup cost is 1¢ per item. As you can see ordering in quantity makes a big difference.
Can you design a business card for me?
Yes, we can offer you several designs and you can choose the one that suites your needs. After you choose your favorite business card design we can tweak it to create exactly what you’re looking for.
What is Bleed?
A business card “bleeds” if color goes to the edge of the card. A business card can bleed on one side, two or three sides. If it bleeds on all four sides it is called full bleed. If the whole card is covered to the edge in a color is called a “flood”. Special design rules are needed to create bleed on printed products.

Can you print business cards with raised print?
Yes, raised print is called Thermography (thermo) and it can be printed on one side of a business card. We can print thermo business cards.
Can you do custom designs with embossing, die-cutting, spot-UV and/or foil imprints?
Yes, if you can imagine it we can create it. However, it is important to remember that these custom designs require extensive set-up so ordering in quantity will make your cost per piece most economical. (Refer to “Why is it cheaper to ordering in quantity?”)
